Day 25: Shifts Begin

Sunday 3rd August, 2008

Today was my first shift day, and I worked with Steven and Lauren and the rest of the Chinese flash quote reporters. I found the day went much quicker because there were less people around so I could spend more time in the training hall. Huzzah! In the morning we went through a flash quote exercise. Then Lauren and I got our first lot of flash quotes published from the training hall, which was rather exciting. We interviewed (with Dennis’ help for interpreting) Nastassia Novikava from Belarus. She was really shy, but we ended up getting a few good quotes from her. The rest of the day was spent having lunch, waiting around for everyone to finish nap time, and then we had a press conference training session in the afternoon. My typing and writing are getting faster so I am feeling a bit more confident that I am going to do a good job, hopefully! I can’t wait until the Aussies get to the training hall just so we can have a chat to them! I was so tired by the time I got home, and all my friends were ridiculously hung over, that Lucas, Amanda and I all decided to Stairway to Love it. Had a fatty meal of pizza and chips, boy did it go down like a treat. Over dinner I heard all about Amanda’s adventures the night before and how she tucked herself into Lucas’ bed and said goodnight hehe. Sounds like it was a good night, but I guess there is always next time.
