Day 30: Opening Ceremony

Friday 8th August, 2008

So today was the day of the Opening Ceremony and everyone seemed to have the day off but me. Lucky them. Unfortunately I had to work, but at least it is only during the day and not at night. Work was good though, because Lauren and I got to go to the Training Hall and interview the Australian athletes – Damon Kelly and Deborah Lovely, and they both were lovely (pun not intended). So that definitely put a smile on my face. But as soon as I got home from work I got ready to go out the back to Red Lantern and snatch a table in front of the big screen to watch the Opening of the Games. With a bottle of Vodka, good food, good company and a big screen, we all had a really great night. It was definitely one to remember. And when all was done, I just walked back to my room. No taxi trouble!
