Day 39: Sick

Sunday 17th August, 2008

Today was Jaimie’s 21st birthday and we all bought her a bunch of flowers – something she didn’t have to lug home with her. For lunch the girls all went to Jane’s friend’s Thai Restaurant called Purple Haze (this was the third time I’ve been and it is definitely a favourite of mine). When we finally got to work we just got to hang around for ages before the start of the Men’s 94kg Group A category, so instead of eating awful dinner some of us decided to go for a walk to the university supermarket and stock up on biscuits and chocolate. Munchies definitely make the time go faster while on the job. After all was lifted and done though, we were meant to go out to the Budweiser club for drinks but because Lauren and I were both sick we decided it was probably not a great idea. On the way home though, we had the best English speaking taxi driver ever. He knew I love you, sank you and HELLO! He was fricken hilarious and even though our Mandarin was poor and so was his English, sign language went a long way to explain who we were and what we were doing here. Good thing it’s a universal language.
